Q: What is section 24 of LARR Act 2013 ?

Ans: The circumstances under which land acquisition proceedings will be deemed to have lapsed are outlined in Section 24 of the LARR Act, 2013. In accordance with this clause, compensation in land acquisition cases will be decided in conformity with the LARR Act, 2013  if no compensation has been published as of January 1, 2014. However, acquisition proceedings under the British 1894 Act will continue if some compensation has already been granted before this date.

Ans: In order to purchase private land for a variety of purposes, the government (union or state) must go through the procedure to acquire land and such procedure is called land acquisition procedure. The government would then have the responsibility of rehabilitation of the affected landowners by paying the fair compensation to land owners.
